1 When men began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took wives of all they desired and chose. 4 There were giants on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.(Gen 6:1,2,4 AMP)
The "sons of God", through their sexual acts with the daughters of men, perverted the genealogy of mankind, which led to the destruction of the world that then was. And per verse 4; and also afterward, once again, "the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them."
Goliath and his four brothers were the products of these perverted unions. As was Og, king of Bashan. He was the last left of the remnant of the Rephaites, whose "bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide." This is why Israel was commanded to destroy these groups upon entering the Promised Land.
In the book of Matthew 24:37, Jesus told his disciples:
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
...meaning this will happen once again at the end of the age.
It is indeed about to happen. It is called
"Singularity": The merging of man’s biological thinking and existence with technology to the point there is no distinction between human and machine (...or animal! mine)
